Cleanse Frequently Asked Questions
How to get cash
There is an ATM at the Cusco Airport. We'll also visit a market town during the cleanse where there will be another chance for an ATM, but not another one after that. We suggest you take out a bit of money as Peru has gorgeous crafts that you may want to take home with you. Other expenses should be minimal.
TIpping
Tipping the Retreat Center staff, would be culturally appropriate and should be done in cash (or other gifts) at the end of your stay. Tipping our Shamanic Healers (Doris, Jose, and Selva) is not mandatory or expected, but would be appreciated.
What is the exchange rate
The Peruvian currency is called the Sol (sun) or Soles if plural. What an amazing name for a currency, second in beauty only to Guatemala's Quetzal. There are about 3 Soles to the dollar. So, if you want to withdraw about $300 at the airport, you'd withdraw 900 soles.

Contact info: Phone number to reach us
When we arrive in Cuzco we will obtain a Peruvian Cell Phone number and will share that with everyone in case they want to get in touch with us. Otherwise, we should be in fairly constant email contact and can answer any questions or concerns as they arise. Coby is the most responsive and his email is [email protected].
Wireless/phone access
We will create a hotspot with our Peruvian cell phone which will allow you the use of Internet for emails only. If you can make arrangements that will allow you to be screenless for the 10 days, this is obviously preferred, although not required.
Vaccines
Due to the elevation of the retreat center (almost 2900 meters or 9500 feet), there are very few mosquitoes... woohoo! There are no required vaccines for Peru, although it is recommended that you are up to date on all regular vaccines and the US state department recommends having your Yellow Fever vaccination. If you are traveling after the program you may want to check with your doctor to see which vaccines would be appropriate.
